Mixed Media Artist
Graham is a professional artist who works in a variety of media to create his own unique take on landscape, narrative, and portrait painting. He loves experimenting with styles and techniques and has developed some stunning three-dimensional layered effects in his work. His background in 3-D computer graphics has influenced a strong graphic element in some of his work, but as well as embracing the effects of modern technology he also draws on a range of very traditional artistic techniques.
Graham’s wide-ranging repertoire includes large narrative oil paintings and smaller more intimate still-life scenes, inspired by the techniques and themes of the great renaissance painters. He has developed his own bold and stylised version of water-colour landscape scenes and a range of local town scenes in the same media. Graham is also an accomplished portrait painter, working in oils, water-colour, pastel or pencil to create images that both the sitter and others can really relate to.
Inspired by the rural location of his workshop, surrounded by woodland and the rolling Cotswold fields, he has created a number of striking paintings in mixed media, featuring woodland scenes with a narrative twist . In these pieces forest creatures, falling leaves, a drifting feather, or children playing hop-scotch, appear between the trees - adding a reflective dynamic to the woodland scenes. The idea of a ‘story embedded in a painting’ runs strongly through much of Graham’s art and is a theme which he continues to develop in his work.
