Acrylic and Ink Artist
I paint with acrylic and ink on gesso board. I enjoy the texture and absorbent qualities of gesso and mix my
own, sanding it to form just the right surface I prefer to work on. I love painting buildings and their traits; a simple uniform pattern of windows, unusual town centre
lettering, a curve of an ornate cornice, rusting fire escapes and crumbling stonework, all fascinate me.
Buildings can take on a character of their own and my urban landscapes can be both light and lyrical or moody and dark.
I also paint to commission and have completed numerous works for private and corporate clients including
Blackwells Publishers of Oxford. My work has taken me around the world; I spent two months in the South West of France painting the towns and cities of the Gasgony region as well as three months in America. My work in America included 18 paintings of the historical buildings along the ‘Freedom Trail’ for Nextera Enterprises of Boston.
I have won Artist of the Year 2014 for my painting Quay Hill - awarded by Artists & Illustrators Magazine. Also shortlisted for the Times Watercolour Artist 2015.
