My first encounter with kiln formed glass was on an art foundation course in 2000 and I was immediately captivated by the process. I continued my studies on a part time Fine Art Course degree but then made the decision to focus on glass. I spent the next three years at the inspirational Richmond Adult Community College in the studio glass department before setting up my own studio in Oxford.
I make expressive glass pieces that have a painterly quality to them. A combination of glass and metal in the form of precious leaf and wire enables me to draw within the glass and creates a palette of subtle colours when the glass is fired. There is a magical alchemy to this process which can be unpredictable but gives each piece its individual character. My work includes framed glass images and a range of decorative bowls and platters.
